Quirks Defined

Have you ever noticed that after you've been in a relationship for a long time -- whether it be an intimate relationship, marriage or even a friendship -- that you begin to form your own language? It becomes more than just pet names for each other. Case in point, after a few months of my relationship with Sam, we got tired of calling each other babe and stuff like that. Sam decided that we needed something different to call each other -- something that was unique, so he came up with "baber". In the course of the next four years we've come up with many names for everyday things. Here's an example:

Going to sleep: Neepers?
Getting up in the morning - wakers vs. uppers
Wakers - eyes open
Uppers - feet on the floor
Sex - happy naked fun time
Please - peas with carrots and sugar on top
Thank you - thankers
You're welcome - welkers

So, yes, Sam and I have our own version of baby talk. What we also have is a method of fighting -- we like to call it "dumb fighting". Dumb fighting is what is referred to as the following:

Me: Damn, you can really be annoying sometime.
Sam: You're annoying.
Me: Your mamma's annoying (Sorry Marie -- no offense!)
Sam: Yeah, your grandma's annoying.

OR

Me: You can really be a dick sometimes
Sam: No, you're a dick!

And it goes on from there. Well, we were watching our new favorite show, "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" and the characters were dumb fighting! Can you believe it? We've been robbed! We've been completely hijacked of our own quirk!

So I'm really going out on a limb here, letting you people in to our strange little world. I'm curious to know if anyone else out there has their own made-up languages, strange quirks, and different methods of solving disputes. Anyone? Anyone?

Carlye Out! (ha ha, that's so dumb)

Oooh, I have to check with David before I embarrass him on the internet with our couple talk. But Minhee! She doesn't mind. Here's a tiny excerpt:

Go for a walk: Go for a wiggy wiggy walkie
Minhee: Chicken/Muffin/Bunny/Papoochie/G-dog/Baby Dog
Minhee whimpering in the backseat: Please turn on the radio really loud so I can sing along.
