I'm curious to know if anyone has any stories regarding the worst places to break up with someone? Is there ever really a good place to break up with someone?
I just encountered one of the coolest (can I really say that?) -- okay, maybe the shittiest thing ever. So I'm sitting in the Jet Blue terminal about to head to Austin for a lovely week of vacation. There are maybe 10 people in the terminal. I noticed a young couple (about my age) and I noticed them earlier too. Not because they are strikingly handsome, but just the opposite. He's tall and spindly and the girl look like...well, she looks like me. And my first thought was -- why did she lower her standards to be with him?? But that's not the story.
So we're all sitting here waiting for the plane, which leaves in about an hour. He looks her right in the eye and breaks up with her. (Okay, I didn't really hear him break up with her but it can be assumed by the following reaction)
Her: Hysterically crying and saying, "No, no, how could you?!"
Him: Sitting staring at her, saying "I'm sorry"
She got so loud that a couple of security guards came up and asked if she was okay. He tried to comfort her after about 20 minutes and she pushed him away (Good for her!) and eventually he cried too. In fact, it's been over 30 minutes and they are both still intermittently crying and staring into space!
Now, here is the real question: Why the hell would you break up with someone that you are about to be stuck next to for the next four hours?? When is it a good idea to say (probably at the end of a vacation), "Um, when we get back home, I'd like to...ummm...try being single. But let's still be friends!" Looking back, I'm sure that he has realized that this was a bad idea.
And again, I could completely be creating a scenario solely based on the stoic male and the hysterical girl. But I'm thinkin' that I'm right...
This could end up being a very interesting plane ride...
So, again I ask: Heard any good break-up stories? This should definitely rank up pretty high on the list of bad break-ups!
Au revoir my friends...I'm off to the Lone Star State!
P.S. The break-upee has not emerged from the bathroom in sunglasses. For real?! Like we haven't been sitting here listening to you cry hysterically and haven't all figured out that something is just the slightest bit wrong!

What an awful place and time to break up with someone. Sometimes men can be total morons. Poor girl.
I have never been involved in a breakup that took place in a weird place or weird circumstances. I overheard someone at work recently say their friend receive news of being dumped via a text message...That's pretty darn bad.
Great blog...just surfed by...
Enjoy your trip!
Will be back to read more...
