Oh Dreidel, Dreidel, Dreidel...

...a holiday filled with fried potatoes and chocolate. My kind of holiday! The lovely Miss Bekah hosted a fun Chanukah party, complete with latkes, dreidels, gelt & the broken menorah standing in half a grapefruit (clever!). Getting together with my (mostly gentile) work friends to spin the dreidel is always a blast. Watching Sam, my co-worker Josh & Sarah's husband Kenneth play dreidel with a sense of real competition (they were playing for chocolate gelt) was priceless. It was so nice getting together somewhere else other than a bar or the office to relax, eat, drink and be merry. I arrived quite late (most of the festivities had ended) due to a prior commitment facilitating a bereavement group, but I still left with my gelt and latkes!

Happy Chanukah to everyone!!! (Only a few days - weeks! late)

You forgot about the other oily Israeli favorite at Hannukah - sufganiot or jelly filled donuts.

Calories don't ever count around the holidays!

Gelt is still my all-time Channukah favorite. What could be bad about 2 of our faves - chocolate and $$$ - rolled into one?
We choose to make latkes from scratch all year round (or at least once in awhile) so they lose some of their specialness at Hannukah.
